IF YOU CARE ABOUT BASEBALL HISTORY THE ALTOONA'S PEOPLES NATURAL GAS FIELD IS A ONE-STOP SHOP

The love for the game of baseball is divided equally between minor and major leagues among fans. This is because normally baseball is rooted in the early days of adolescence in minor leagues for those who choose the sport, and it goes on into adulthood with major leagues, half of which remain loyal to minor leagues.

This shared love better explains why the most iconic baseball field voted once again in 2022, is not a major baseball league venue, it is The Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona. Baseball fans who didn’t know the stadium went crazy a few weeks ago with the news online and Streetopia decided to bring our baseball fans a little Americana news.

The news here is that MBL has been eyeing the field to transform it into a venue that would host both leagues in an astronomical project.

The Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pennsylvania is purely poetry versing about the American way of life, landscapes, gastronomy, and history. It features a mountain backdrop, a roller coaster beyond its outfield wall, well-rooted American cuisine, spectacular sunsets, food court sitting tables like back in the 1900s and concession names also common in the last century. Many major league baseball teams made their way up passing through Altoona.

Altoona is a very small town in Blair County, Pennsylvania home to about 45 thousand people. The stadium is simply breathtaking, its roller coaster-dominated scenic view has been portrayed in several video games, movies and inserted in books and calendars displaying baseball’s most beautiful stadiums, it has a unique feature, like in the old days, the extension of the food court has dining sitting tables as a continuation of the food court, dating back to field’s design of 1905.

What one should always remember about baseball is that “the older it is the cooler it gets, and this field has it all.

Attractions

You can truly have an All-American day at the Natural Gas Field, there are remains of what was once the oldest railroad in the country, for food there is the Curve Burger (which the city did not allow it to close not even during the pandemic), it remains open 7 days week, even during severe winters and when the stadium is empty, it’s just one of the best burgers on the East Coast.

Behind the baseball field, there is the Lakemont Park, America’s oldest amusement park and home to what is recognized as the world’s oldest operating roller coaster as it opened in 1894.

While baseball is being played, you have the full view of a mountain, as if you were on the West Coast, a roller coaster, burgers, and pops (as they used to say back in 1930), concessions sittings with views to the baseball field on sidelines, dating back to 1895.

The surroundings of the stadium are just incredibly rich with an array of American historical sites like the Railroaders Memorial Museum, Johnstown Flood National Memorial, the Flight 93 National Memorial and Gettysburg National Military Park.

Pennsylvania is home to six minor leagues and several major leagues, and we will have to wait and see if that renovation materializes.
