By the time you read this article it has already been long well established how crazily related the world of fashion, money, art and luxury is with NBA.

Since its inception, the NBA has always been, and still is, a middle- and upper-class sport, at least for the most part, that is, it’s not as cheap as baseball, and not as insanely expensive as golfing.

Lately we have witnessed a deluge of not only fashion but extreme luxury collabs, partnerships, and ventures related to high luxury markets. Just to give an overview, there has been over two thousand press publications and advertisements in the US alone, related to NBA high luxury items.

In practical terms, let’s detail how much money has been going around:

PARCERIA ENTRE NBA E LOUIS VUITTON –
Eyeing the US and the Chinese market the companies announced a multiyear dealfor Louis Vuitton early 2020 to produce the travel case for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, awarded to the championship winning team each year, as well as a small annual collection of clothes and accessories based on the league. Even amidst a year of crises, the revenue has reached $ 109 millions dollars.

NBA TOP SHOT
– Jaw dropping figures would be an understatement. Now with gross revenue projections estimated at 3.4 billion dollars in its debuting year, the NFTS went over all expectations among the league’s executives.

KANYE WEST x NIKE AIR YEEZY 1
– Even though not being directly related to the NBA, the basketball-like shape sneaker sold for a whopping $1.8 million this past week. Sotheby’s estimates that it’s now worth over $ 2.4 million dollars.

NIKE AIR JORDAN 1 –
The shoes worn by basketball legend Michael Jordan sold for $615,000 at an online auction last Thursday.

VERSACE E UMA POSSIVEL NEGOCIAÇÃO
– A collab has been in the works for a collection of athletic basketball luxury bags and accessories that will be launched this year with a $ 299 million revenue projection only based on the Chinese market.

One clear trend that we have observed is how important the Chinese market for the NBA is. All projections and partnerships for “figures higher than ever imagined” have now definitely turned to the Asian market.

Even if it’s through luxury, we are always happy to see the NBA expanding.
